Clan Hunt - 29 May 99 - The Lake Revisited
We had a great time with this hunt. I'm amazed at what one week will do to our strength. We revisited the Lake, North Planes and North Beach since the mountain passes were really busy with other exiles. This time we had little trouble fending off cat and rockadile attacks and had a very good hunt indeed.
We started out of the clan house with Afton (former SDC member), Myself, Speedier, Sten, Terenas, and Yor. Later Gandor (Durin) joined us as well as Ace Rimmer, Ishanda, and Skye. We moved with little difficulty through East and Northeast Forests.
We had a good hunt in these northeastern regions and fully explored the Lake, the North Plains, and the North Beach. The most interesting things we found were a tied-down boat and locked fisherman's hut in North Beach. A small stream runs from the Lake through the northern plains and beach to the sea.

Clan Hunt - 22 May 99 - The Lake
We had a problem with the hunt this week. We had planned to hunt wendies at the North Pass area which went well. However, emboldened with our success there, I took the clan too far out, beyond the Lake (which is east then north of North Pass) to North Planes and North Beach, where we eventually succumbed and had to depart.
The hunt started well with Adua, Baerwizz, Sor, Speedier, Sten, Tserr'tsee, and Yor all meeting at our clan house. As we progressed to North Pass; Aki, Ananna, Haseo, Tarsaroth, Spirit, Suu'ub III, Viper, and (unfortunately) Ther'Anger joined us.
We faired well gaining a lot of experience and money while helping others in East Field and East Forest. We then left the North Pass area and headed east then a ways north to the Lake.
This is a beautiful area and the southeast corner of the Lake is safe. We moved with caution through the Lake area into the North Plains. Again we seemed to hold our own until we went into North Beach where we were trapped north by rockadiles and south by cats. One by one we were picked off and had to depart. A sad ending to an otherwise great hunt.
One thing that would have helped is for me to prevent evil characters like Ther'Anger from joining us. I like to bring along other non-clan members, they generally are a boon to our hunt. But if I see a person like Ther'Anger come out with us I will personally see to it that they know that they are not welcome or direct the hunt to a safer place if we can't get rid of him or her.

Clan Hunt - 15 May 99 - Undine Cavern
Aloha Clanmates,
Ton could not make the clan hunt today so he asked me (Speedier) to step into his place as hunt leader.
Our hunt went a little better than last week's event (although many of us spent much of the time looking at the roof of the undine hut). As usual we started at the SDC house. Adua, Kalian, Merlisk, Sor, Sten, Stongblade, Tserr'tsee, and Yor practiced killing a few Kudzu bushes before heading off.
Yor then took charge leading his first hunt. For those of you who have not met Yor, he is Pauly's younger brother. Pauly has found a clue about the whereabouts of their mother, so Yor is fulfilling Pauly's duties here while Pauly conducts his search.
Stormraven and a few others joined us in the undine hut where we fought for a while before becoming overwhelmed by the Hooded Corpses. Our healers Danz, Merlisk, and Sor, did an excellent job of saving our behinds and getting us back upstairs in the Farmer's Hut while Yor kept the undine busy.
Eventually another group of exiles joined us as they sensed our plight under East Field. The hunt ended well with a good deal of coinage and experience for everyone.

Clan Hunt - 8 May 99 - East Farms
Our first Clan Hunt after the Ripture Wars was more of a rescue mission than a hunt. Although we will laugh at this later, there were many bodies piling up in the East Farms huts due to infestation of snakes and other (somewhat) nasty creatures.
I had been somehow transported back to the Adytum again and was purged of recent training getting back to town. When I got to East Farms I saw Bloodmoon, Ravenstorm, Speedier, Sor, and Yor involved in the rescue either as a helper or as a fallen one.
After much anguish we were able to get most of the people out. However the huts still continued to trap exiles for long afterward.
Soon we shall regain our strength and battle far beyond the borders of fair Puddleby.

Clan Hunt - 1 May - Ripture War at North Pass
Our Clan Hunt today was about the best we've had. As soon as I clanned the mystics were sensing that a rift was forming in North Pass. I could hear the dark energy pulses crackling in the air. Afton told me the whereabouts of our clanned members and Merlisk christened us the SDC Ripture War Warriors!
SDC representatives including Pauly, Adua, Afton, Bloodmoon, Braveheart, Merlisk, MikeII, Sor, Speedier, Sten, and Talon Breck made our way up north to battle the rift. Although I thought all our members fought brilliantly (I may be a little prejudiced), Pauly amazed us all by single-handedly holding off about 30 undine. He was true to his credo "Me Zo Me Kill!"
Speedier, Pauly, and I were on the northern edge of the battle and did not even see the Dark Oval. We fought at entrance of north pass where wave after wave of undine teleported in trying to finish us off. After 3 hours (Puddleby time) of intense battle, the healers were able to heal the rift and a great earthquake occurred nearly killing everyone. What a great end to a clan hunt.
The next hunt is the 8 May (sorry about the mistaken date of my first message). We should be raw little newbies after the Great Rebirth so we may huddle together taking on the Hive or the rumored Puddleby sewer system. Until then, take care of yourself and I hope to see you in town.

Clan Hunt - 24 April - Greater Wraith Hunting
SDC quickly responded to widespread spawns of Greater Wraiths near town. Baerwizz, Emerald, Merlisk, Myself, Pauly, Speedier, and Sor were among the SDC members to chase after the wraiths.
Our greatest battle occurred in South Farms where we encountered three of these vicious undead. Later we chased wraiths though East Field, the Hive and back to town. After securing Puddleby, we relaxed with a well-earned beer keg at the clan house.

Clan Hunt - 17 April - Dun'ilsar ELF vs. SDC
Unfortunately we lost to our challengers, ELF, in the Hunter Dun'ilsar. MikeII was able to kill 24 different varieties of creatures to Flemings 28. See Speedier's report on the challenge for details.

Clan Hunt - 10 April - Glacier and Desert
We had a fantastic time at our hunt today! We headed to the Glacier where our advance party had fallen. Fighting Ice Maha Ruknees, Frost Orgas, Polar Bears, and Frost Giants, we were able to raise our fallen and take command of south Glacier. Adua, Afrit, Afton, IFinder, Merlisk, Pauly, Speedier, and Sten were among the SDC members to clear out Glacier.
From OC we went on to the desert which we found essentially empty. We cleared out the desert well and then headed back to town.
The next Clan Hunt will be the Hunter Dun'ilsar, we've been challenged by ELF! We will meet at the SDC Pub in south Puddleby, 4:00 PM Pacific Time Saturday, 17 April. Contact Speedier at jkurilla@usaor.net or check our clan hunt page at http://home.austin.rr.com/shaman/clanlord/clanhunt.html for more information.
Note that most of the US is now on Daylight Savings Time. Those in Canada, Europe, or Asia may need to make adjustments. Just ask me what time it is the next time you see me in Puddleby.

Clan Hunt - 3 April - Arachnoid Cavern
At our last hunt, we first headed to Orga Camp where an Orga Frenzy was creating havoc. Adding our weight in fighters and healers, we quickly helped kill the Frenzy and cleaned up OC. Afrit, Angel, Merlisk, Oracle (sadly, her last day as part of our clan), Pauly, Speedier, The Lord, and Volrath were among the SDC members to help out.
From OC we went on to the cavern with our friends to battle the Arachnoids. As I feared, this was very difficult. It took us three attempts before we were able to create a "beachhead" in narrow corridor of the cavern entrance.
It seemed there were between 30-40 Arachnoids in this area. Since the Arachnoids no longer go north from the cavern, there was no way to draw them out and kill them. We had to use the brute force method of using temporary bricks and sending the powerful fighters up to the front line backed up by the healers.
That resulted with overcrowding and slow progress in the small corridor where we fought which irritates almost everyone. We battled for what seemed like hours and still never were able to break into the cavern. However, we did save all those who had fallen and the people who had patience were able to gain quite a bit of experience.
I will steer our hunts clear of this area, until something changes to make the cavern more fun to battle in. Send me suggestions where to hunt. It will not be long (late April?) before we have new areas to hunt in.
If anyone previews these areas, feel free to tell me about them. We can plan to have a hunt there eventually.

Clan Hunt - 27 March - Dark Temple
Our last hunt was a lot of fun, we tried to make it to the Astral Plane but wound up having a battle royale in the Dark Temple. Afton, Emerald, MikeII, Oracle, Pauly, and Speedier were among the SDC members that showed up. We also had many friends of the SDC participate in the hunt too.
If I have forgotten any SDC members who participated in the hunt please tell me so! MikeII is keeping track of hunt participants for rank advancement.
The Dark Temple can be a very difficult place to survive. Fortunately for us we had the firepower to kill off the Greater Wraith that showed up and the Greater Death was nowhere to be seen. But we had a Liche and an Astral Guardian blocking our access of the Astral Plane and they turned out to be too tough to kill.
We had tried to go the long way to Astral because the Red Path is no longer safe to traverse. I found that about two-thirds the way up the path, there is a hidden trap that will send you to the Lava Room. If you fall into the Lava Room don't hesitate, RUN to the nearest edge! If you don't survive, you might be reachable by a healer.
The lava is acting mighty strange. Even when pulled from the lava, generally there is some residual effect of the lava which will kill the person being healed. I have found if this person immediately moves away from the spot they were dragged or pulled to (also away from the lava) when healed, they may not die.
I also noticed I could not self-heal in the lava. If anyone else noticed strange things about the lava or strategies for survival, please feel free to tell me about them.
And last but not least, rumors have been confirmed that the Outer Planes of the Abyss entrance is missing from the Astral Plane. In the southeast corner of the Astral Plane there appears to be some sort of marker. One experienced exile said that going a little north then directly west from this marker will lead you back to the Dark Temple. I have not been able to confirm these directions.
I am working out a route to access the Astral Plane from the Room of the Red Path. And also trying to find the secret of locating the Astral Plane exit back to the Dark Temple. Will let you all know if I succeed.
That's all for now. Since the great forgetting is coming up soon I will try to make the hunts as daring as possible. Send me suggestions on where you would like to go.

Clan Hunts - February and March - Various Areas
We had several great hunts (and one Dun'silar challenge that we won against Dwarven Militia) in February and March. We visited and generally overran Arachnoid Cavern (several times), Cold and Snowy (Glacier), Ash Island - Darshak Outpost and Horde, Dark Temple, and Astral Plane.
I want to thank each and every one of you who participated for some great teamwork. This thanks also goes out to those outside our clan who joined us and made each of these hunts successful.

Clan Hunt - 30 January - Spirit Wood, Orga Camp, and Queen's Chamber
I want to thank all those who showed up for a very successful Saturday clan meeting and hunt (my first as High Protector). Adua, Afrit, Afton, Blizzard, Ertai Awoken, Lazurus, Oracle, Pauly, Ravenstorm, Sor, Speedier, Stormraven, Timberwolf, Volrath, Windyman and other clanmates helped clobber critters we found in Spirit Wood, Orga Camp and Queen's Room.
I believe we are ready for greater challenges, so I plan to direct the next hunt (6 February) to Arachnoid Cavern. So polish up your weapons and moonstones and I will see you all next Saturday at10am PT.
