Introduction

I have decided that I will no longer map limited areas (such as the smaller islands and caverns) and concentrate only on regional maps. There are various old maps that I feel are of little value to the average exile, so I have placed them in the back of the scrolls. Most of them consist of only one or two mapped sn'ells. But if you are new to Puddleby, look to the Specialized Maps section as they may help.

I am happy to publish locations of other maps on these scrolls. Be sure to send an enchanted mail to me if you would like to have your map listed. I highly recommend that you look over my friend and fellow clanmate Drablak's maps and the Winds of Dawn's map collection.

Without the help of many great explorers and scholars, I would have been hard put to generate accurate maps of the Lok'groton Archipelago. I thank all that have helped me.

In Honor of the Sun Dragon,

Tonoto

Maps of the World

The Oceans

Here are views of the ocean sn'ells (South, North and Dal'noth Oceans) around the Lok'groton Archipelago. To reach the sea one can rent a boat from one of the many merchants near the docks on Puddleby beach.

South Ocean

The South Ocean sn'ell is loaded with islands. The town of Puddleby is located on the same-named island in the southeast corner of this ocean. Six more islands have been accessed and explored. These are known as Ash Island, Devil's (also known as Fire) Island, Grassy (also called Centaur or Peaceful) Island, Tenebrion's Island, Thieves' Island and the Kismia (also known as Umbrion's) Island.

As of the Winter of 550, a new island has been forming in the western portion of the ocean. Apparently this is happening through the efforts of the 'brion brothers. At this time one can land on the south side of the island but not venture much farther. I'm sure this will change quite soon.

Puddleby Island

The anchor point for Ton's maps on Puddleby Island is the region around the town of Puddleby, the surrounding Farms and the Western Beaches. To the north of Puddleby, maps of the Myrm Hive tunnels are provided.

After this region was mapped, he prepared maps of four other major regions of the island: East Fields and East Forest (which includes Spirit Wood), East Mountain Passes & Greymyr Village, North Forest (which includes the Highlands, Northwest Forest and the areas known as Jannar's Grove and the "Feral Coast or Fringe"), and South Forest and the Southwestern Beaches (which includes the Southern Brambles and South Beach).

There are also some other pertinent maps for island's southern region which include the Southern Savannah & the Southern Dunes and the (North and South) Marsh.

Other important maps of the island east of Puddleby consist of Northeast Forest (which includes the Lake Area, Northern Plains, and North Beach), Snagglewood, and Tanglewood.

Lorikeet and Rakshasa have drawn a map of the large Snagglewood Outback (also called the Orga Outback). This region lies behind Wisher's Gate and includes Hatred Hollow, Trainer's Grove, and Dred Passage. The Outback also leads to Orga Village. Lorikeet and Rakasha have also provided a partial map of Orga Village (and a few other areas not related to Snagglewood such as the New Bear Caves).

Ash Island

To the northeast of Puddleby Island in the Lok'groton island chain lies the forbidding Ash Island. This is a stronghold of the Darshak (west side of island) and the Undine (east side of island). Two maps are provided, one of the whole area of Ash Island and the other of Dark Temple (which is on east side of Ash Island).

Devil's Island

In the Year of the Ascendancy 538, several landing locations have been found on an island called Devil's Island (or sometimes called Fire Island) just west of Puddleby Island. This island has quite an unusual and varying climate and creatures.

Lundar has put together a nice map of Devil's Island. He has concentrated on the putting together a map of the surface while another exile, Mac-arena, has currently been mapping unique areas such as the Devil's Island's caves.

Centaur Island

There is another accessible isle called Centaur Island (which is officially called Grassy Island and is not mapped), that is located in the far western reach of the island chain. This island is populated by Centaurs who control entry north into the Menagerie. To the north of the Menagerie is a small area called Grassy Island. On the east side of the island there is a small forest called Orionwood.

Tenebrion's Island

Fairly recently (539 YA) exiles discovered a few landing beaches on Tenebrion's Island, just east of Peaceful Island. This island is the home of the wizard Tenebrion (Tenebrion's Demesne). Here is where the wizard's castle (Tenebrion's Keep) is located. The castle's passageways are far more intricate than one would first suppose.

Astrid, whom unfortunately is seldom seen in the lands anymore, let me know of her map of Tenebrion's Island. She said that this map doesn't include the smaller (one sn'ell) island to the northeast of the island but is otherwise complete.

Thieves' Island

Another accessible island (not mapped) is to the north of Puddleby Island is called Thieves' Island. This is the home of many "forbidden practices". There are three major activity areas on Thieves': the Arena, the Badlands, and the Coliseum.

The Arena is a small area where exiles can battle each other generally in one-on-one battles. The Badlands is a much larger area where warring clans or groups can fight each other. And the Coliseum is an area where exiles can pit their strength and cunning against various creatures while earning a few coins to boot.

Kismia Island

Some time ago (541 YA), the veil had been lifted on an island (which some call Umbrion's Island), the second island north of Puddleby Island. This island is the home of the wizard Umbrion, brother to Tenebrion. The wizard's castle has been sited on the south side of the island.

There are a several maps of this island, but they are hard to locate. I may eventually add these maps or references to these scrolls.

North Ocean

The North Ocean seems to be void of islands but there are strange cloudy areas in the far northeast and northwest corners. These areas exhibit a kind of spatial distortion which serve as portals to the Dal'Noth Ocean (see below).

Although there are no islands in North Ocean, there is sea life that can make life miserable for an unwary sailor. Little creatures such Giant Carnivorous Plankton and Teslas as well as huge creatures such as Calcuns and Megamouths can sink one's boat pretty rapidly. Sometimes with the currents being the way they are, you can't avoid encounters with these creatures.

Dal'Noth Ocean

A fascinating island, Dal'Noth Isle, discovered around the year 536 YA, can be reached if you travel north to North Ocean and enter the portals (as explained above) to Dal'noth Ocean. You currently can land on various beaches of the island (if you can find a mystic to open the barrier surrounding the island).

A town (Dal'Noth Town) and a Castle (home to the wizard Votenkath) has been discovered on the surface. A long and very intricate Underground has also been found. There are two small Outposts located in the underground as well as other unusual sights.

Background

Strim! My name is Tonoto Khon. Long ago I decided to present my maps here so that it may benefit all that visit the Sun Dragon Clan scrolls. These maps are fairly detailed, so if you want to discover these areas on your own look no farther on these scrolls! Otherwise, here is a little background of these maps.

I arrived on Puddleby Island from Shan Deral long ago (529th year of the Ascendancy). I was quickly nicknamed TonTo, the foolish one, by other Ghorak Zo fighters on the island because I chose the path of a healer. This profession was almost unheard of in the Ghorak Zo race where the way of the warrior was highly encouraged.

As time went by, I developed some skills of cartography to help explore the island I now called home. I soon prepared my first map scrolls so that all could benefit from my work. I was joined by a young Thoom named Shakam in the year 532 who asked me to if he could aid in my exploration efforts. Shakam, who at the time was an Apprentice Mystic and had more of a literary bent, took over writing of the scrolls while I concentrated on exploration and mapping.

During the summer of the year 533, great battles were fought in the Ripture War. After the exiles had achieved victory, the whole face of Puddleby Island and even the Lok'groton island chain changed. A veil had been lifted from the common exiles' eyes and new areas became visible (and new areas are still being discovered to this day).

With the aid of many fierce fighters, talented healers and wise mystics, I have essentially completed my planned survey of the island. Taking my field drawings and with the help of a couple of my comrades I created maps (updated last in the Winter of 550) of all the regions of Puddleby Island and other islands of the Lok'groton Archipelago. I make no claim to absolute accuracy of these maps (I was running for my life many times while mapping), but I did as best as I could under the circumstances.

Map Upkeep and Disclaimers

I've not been able to update my maps for quite a while. Many of them are still accurate but there are a few that need to be modified.

I plan to post links here to other exiles that have been doing a great job archiving the latest maps available.

I may try to update maps that I have authored and those that people still depend upon. Currently I have noted some inaccuracies in the Dal'noth Underground, North Forest and (possibly) Marsh maps. My map of the Mountain Passes and Greymyr Village is very dated so I have removed it from the shelves. If you see any other errors or omissions, please send a message to me.

Finally, I am sensitive to the code of silence that the mystics hold to themselves. We are have tried to remove almost all references to mystical areas in our maps and text. We hope that the reader will understand why this constraint must be followed.

One last note, I have decided to mark most of the common paths that Mystics and Pathfinders can open. Over time, it had become increasingly apparent that this information was needed to navigate throughout the islands. If this spoils the adventure for you, let me know and I may consider pulling these maps from the shelves too and replacing them with maps without these paths.
