The South Forest is a huge area which is good experience for the more advanced fighters and healers. In general, the northern portions of the South Forest are fairly easy but get much harder as one progresses to the deep south. This area is loaded with cats and vermine, but a tremendous variety of other creatures live there too.

South Forest is located just south of South and East Farms and East Fields. The North and South Marshes can also be accessed from the east side South Forest and are good places to gain experience if you know your way around. To the west and southwest of the forest are Southwest Beaches and Southwestern Sandy Place.

The South Forest Mirror is found several tracts south of East Farms, but it has been some time since the common exile can enter this portal into a room called the Mirror Room. This room is (or was) a gateway to new worlds and seemed to be located in a castle.

Below South Forest lies Southern Brambles, the home of the T'rool and Orc. There is a small village there that consists of a few huts. Several caves are found in Southern Brambles generally inhabited by the T'rool-kind. They really don't like exiles much there so one must watch his (or her) step.

Below the brambles lies an area called South Beach which has many passages winding along the rocks and the beaches there. The South Beach connects to the Savannah which in turn connects to Southern Dunes. All these areas are tough to survive, but there are rumors of gem mines and other fascinating places there. So when one toughens up, it's a good place to visit.

I've now included Iho's and Aki's nomenclature (A2, B1, C1, etc.) for naming the tracts of South Forest. And thanks to Shiner, I've added the actual connections from South Forest to the North Marsh.
