Clan Organization

Social Structure

All individuals who complete the initiation process are welcomed in to the clan as "Disciples of the Sun" and will remain so until such time as they choose to join a kinship. All regular members also have one vote to cast in any clan decision, such as who should be elected to the Sun Dragon Council. Regular members may not be members of any other clan.

Some clan members choose to join one of the three kinships. Each kinship is directed towards a different type of person and each works to achieve the clan's goals through different means. Descriptions of the "Disciples of the Sun" and the three kinships:

The Disciples of the Sun: These are members of the SDC who either have not yet chosen a kinship or who choose not to belong to one. They are lead by the High Disciple and proudly display their title, knowing that they are full members of the clan.

The Protector Kinship: This kinship is lead by the High Protector. The kinship is comprised of individuals who emphasize strength and achievement. They have clearly defined goals such as to protect the clan and the areas around Puddleby from threats. Protectors conduct clan hunts and often lead the clan into battles and rescues.

The Explorer Kinship: This kinship is lead by the High Explorer and stresses discovery and exploration. They seek to find the hidden places and to see the monsters lurking yet unseen. Explorers recognize that knowledge of the world is a key to survival and gladly share this knowledge with the rest of the SDC.

The Benevolent Kinship: This kinship is lead by the High Benevolence and focuses on interactions between people. The Benevolent Kinship recognizes that communication is essential to the clan's survival, and they work to keep the lines of communication open.

The Sun Dragon Council: The Sun Dragon Council is made up of five regular clan members (in order of rank):

    High Councilor
    High Protector
    High Explorer
    High Benevolence
    High Disciple

Each election period, the High Councilor asks for nominees for all positions of the council. The council is then elected by clan members voting for these nominees. The Council:

    Oversees clan meetings and important activities;
    Appoints clan members to specified positions;
    Selects and initiates new members with approval of the clan; and
    Maintains the clan treasury.
