The Mission
To develop a more flexible system of rules that allow for easier
role-playing but still help to guide members along the good path.
Each member of the Sun Dragon Clan must follow the Code Of Conduct.
Upon being "Joined" or "Sworn" to the Clan the member must pledge
himself or herself to the code. Failure to sustain the Oath is not sufficient reason
to revoke membership, unless the majority of the clan demands such.
The code of conduct is divided into two equally important and complementary
parts: The Clan Virtues and The Clan Written Code. Should a situation arise where
the Written Code does not seem to apply, then the Virtues should be used as the primary
guidelines for what is right.

|
The Clan Written Code is divided into sections,
each representing a virtue.
Section 1: Helpfulness
- Help others whenever possible and reasonable.
- If one encounters a dead or badly wounded adventurer, one should
endeavor to render aid.
ïAn exception is if the person found refuses aid.
ïAn exception is a person who is acting foolishly and despite at least two warnings
continues to hunt critters well above his or her ability. Rescue them once, or if
you fell generous, twice...then you have done all you can do to help them.
ïAn exception is a person who despite at least two warnings continues to follow you
into a very dangerous area well above their ability. Rescue them once, or if you
fell generous, twice...then you have done all you can do to help them.
- If one encounters an adventurer who is hunting in an area much
too dangerous for them, suggest an alternative area.
- If one encounters a lost or disoriented adventurer try to direct
them back to town or at least to an area where verbal directions to town would be
simple. Also tell them where maps can be found and suggest they acquire some.
- One should never take advantage of the lost, wounded or confused.
Try to be courteous and helpful. Should they refuse aid, become rude, or become belligerent
then one has the right to simply walk away and not help them.
- If one encounters a confused adventurer who does not understand
the basic principles of the world, take a minute or two to help then learn. One need
not spend all day teaching, but at the very least answer their immediate question(s)
and direct them to Braveheart's Guide or another
appropriate source of information.
Section 2: Courtesy
- Be Courteous To Others Whenever Possible And Reasonable
- One has the right to expect to be treated with Courtesy and respect
in return.
- One should never demand coins, karma, items or sharing of knowledge
from others. These things should be given freely and at the discretion of the giver.
- One does have the right, however, to politely explain that it
is common courtesy, and very wise, to "reward" or "donate" to
those who have given aid.
- If one considers another one's actions to be rude, then one has
an obligation to tell them.
- One should endeavor to avoid "other worldly language"
especially if such language is rude, vulgar or obscene.
ïOut Of Character Name calling and Real World Foul language should be avoided in
all circumstances.
ïNOTE: In-Character Name calling is allowed but should be rare.. . . so you can say
that someone has a head full of Orga Snot.
ïIf one chooses to stoop to name calling, please try to at least make it original.
Do not just use the same tired old words or phrases over and over again.
- If one encounters another adventurer who seems obsessed with the
less polite side of language, or who otherwise insists on being rude, vulgar or obscene:
ïOne has the right to ask them to stop
ïOne has the right to deliver bad karma upon the offensive person
ïOne has the right to ignore them
ïOne has the right to withhold aid until such time as the offending adventurer mends
his or her ways.
ïPlease always make it clear WHY aid is being withheld.
Section 3: Unselfishness
- Endeavor To Be Unselfish In A World Overrun With Greed
ïThis does not mean one should give away all worldly possessions or should give coins
and items to anyone who asks.
ïThis does mean if one assists in the slaying of a critter who's corpse contains
multiple coins, those coins should be shared among the group.
ïThis does mean one should endeavor to SHARE knowledge with as many other people
as possible.
ïThis does mean one should send karma and/or offer coins to those who have proven
to be helpful.
Section 4: Honor
- Conduct Oneself With Honor In All Matters
- Refrain from shady or unscrupulous dealings
- Refrain from being a nuisance, an irritant or otherwise antisocial
- Seek to discover the truth
- Conduct all dealings fairly and deliver what is promised if the
asking price is paid.
- Never claim to speak for the entire clan unless one has first
secured permission from the entire clan and/or from the majority of the council.
- If someone is fighting a monster, one must ask them if they need
help before attacking. Never INTENTIONALLY attack what another is fighting without
permission.
Section 5: Liberality:
- Embrace Liberty
- Vote in clan elections so that your voice may be heard.
- Engage in discussions and help shape and improve the clan
- One has the right to protest and, if need be, bring to a clan
vote any order or direction which one feels would
- compromise one's own personal beliefs or ethics.
- One has the right to propose new codes
- One has the right to hold any elected clan seat, assuming one
first obtains the support of the majority of the voting clan members.
Section 6: Bravery
- Be Brave In The Face of Danger.
- Endeavor to destroy those forces (Orga, Darshak, Undine, to name
a few) who threaten the town of Puddleby.
- Do not stand idly by during invasions, instead work to free the
town from the vile menace.
- Do not abandon allies, if need be quickly return to town and bring
back help.

Procedure #1
How to make proposal
- Any REGULAR member may bring a proposal to the floor.
- All proposals must be sent to a councilor for distribution.
- Any proposal that receives a majority of affirmative votes will
be added to the Written Code Of Conduct
- Proposals must be focused and as concise as possible, no riders,
hidden parts or confusing speech.
- If a proposal seems to have multiple parts it can be subdivided
in to separate parts. Each part will then be voted on as if it were a separate proposal.
Procedure #2
When considering a new member
- Race, Sex or Profession shall not be considered when an individual
is evaluated for membership into the Clan.
- Do they have an honest desire to join the clan?
- Can not be a full member of another clan or must be willing to
resign from their current clan.
- The individual's alignment must be "Good"
- See the joining scrolls for more info.
Procedure #3
Complaint process
Note: The person against whom the complaint is filed will here
after be referred to as the "defendant".
The process:
- All complaints are filed to the Council.
- The complaint is primarily handled by the High Disciple.
- The defendant is informed of the complaint and is given his or
her chance to make a statement.
- Once both sides are heard, the High Disciple will make a conclusion.
- If necessary, the Disciples of the Sun can be used as a jury to
determine the case.
- Possible Council decisions are:
a. No action (the matter either can not be settled or is not something within the
power of the council to settle)
b. Assign a strike to the Defendant (Three strikes and the person is out of the clan.)
c. To remove the Defendant from the clan.
d. The High Disciple may bring the matter to the decision of the Council and or the
entire clan. (In other words everyone in the clan gets to vote on the matter and
the majority will decide the fate of the defendant.)
e. Possible rank evaluation. (i.e. demote their rank.)
Procedure #4
A "three strike rule" for the enforcement of clan laws
- If a member receives three strikes they are asked to leave the
clan.
- Members who break game rules will be reported to Delta Tao.
Procedure #5
A tie in voting
- If two or more candidates have the same number of votes, a reelection
is held just for the tied candidates.
- The election period for the reelection is three days.
Procedure #6
Clan Income
- A treasurer is to be appointed by the Council.
- At initiation of a new member, they must provide the 100 coin
fee for registration costs.
- All new members must pay a fee of 5% percent of their total coins
for the clan treasury.
- At the last Clan Hunt of each month, each SDC member is requested
to provide 10% of their total coins for the treasury.
- If one is not present at the final hunt, they may pay their due
before the hunt when it is convenient.
Procedure #7
Clan Rescues
- When a SDC member has fallen, or when the appropiate Protector
calls upon the SDC Rescue Team:
a. ICQ can be used by the Rescue Team.
b. Any member who is on the Rescue Team that is called upon should drop what they
are doing, and assists the situation until their services are no longer required.
c. To join the SDC Rescue Team, contact the High Protector.
Procedure #8
Trials
- When a clan member sues another clan member:
a. If the case is found frivolous, the SDC Council will review the case, and determine
if there was misconduct on the Clan member's part.
b. Proper punishment will be dealt in these situations.
- Cases where Clan members are found guilty will also be reviewed
by the SDC Council, and additional punishment may be dealt out.
