Major Events of the Lok'Groton Isles |
|||||||||
| Tonoto is piecing together the clan history as well as the history of the exploration of the Lok'Groton Isles. Unfortunately, during the Ripture War many things were forgotten and records were lost.
Although the earliest chronicles date back to the 518th Year of the Ascendancy (YA) when Hulapop roamed the Lok'Groton Isles, exiles started to settle on Puddleby Island in the late 520's. Braveheart was one of the first exiles, arriving on the island on the 18th day of 529. Many thanks to fellow historians such as Healery of the Red Quill, Norm and Rieger of Zouclougeist Alliance who have carefully transcribed the major events in and around Puddleby Island. Summer, 529 YA: Braveheart helps found the "Hunter Clan" (now know as the SDC), which is the first clan in existence on Puddleby Island. Adua, Bran, Gilean, and Sten are some of the first members of the clan. Braveheart presents his Clan Lord Scrolls, which is the essential guide for all new exiles arriving on the island. Fall, 530 YA: The SDC Clan House is built in south Puddleby. Bran is the architect of the clan house as well as several other buildings around Puddleby. The clan gathers in the SDC House and formally changes the name to Sun Dragon Clan. Clan Hunts are agreed upon to be officially to be held on (ooc) Saturday mornings at 1pm ET (10am PT). Winter, 531 YA: The Clan Registrar arrives at Puck's and the clan is registered by Braveheart and Adua, with the help of Polerand and Stormraven (both left SDC). Summer, 531 YA: The great Sun Dragon visits members of the clan including Adua and Ton To. Winter, 532 YA: The first SDC Dun'ilsar is held against Brotherhood of Independents. Spring, 533 YA: The Ripture War creates great chaos on Puddleby Island and all is devastated. Healery has several accounts of the Lok'Groton Ripture War (a short discription on Closing a Tear early in the war, then more detailed accounts: Part I, Part II, Part III, and Part IV of her Ripture War scrolls). Norm put together his insights on the Ripture War. And Rieger provides his summary of the Ripture War. The SDC is broken apart and members are scattered for a short time. Sor is hired as town architect and several of his creations (Blacksmith Shop, Post Office to name a few) start being built in Puddleby. 350th day of 533 YA: The Clan Registrar arrives in Puddleby again and the SDC is re-founded by Terenas, Baerwizz, Gandor Durin, and Sor. 61st day of 534 YA: Gaia spotted wearing SDC colors. Fall, 534 YA: A large Orga presence is detected in Tanglewood. The Battle of the Meadow is lead by the SDC on the 301st day of 534 and exiles regain control of the area. Reiger details the fight in Tanglewood. The route to Orga Town was discovered on the east side of Orga Camp. Spring, 535 YA: The Altar Battle occured when Bartok stole the altar from the Town Temple and took it back to the Orga Camp, demolishing it on the way. On the 91 day of 535 YA, the SDC sends out a call to arms and the Second Assault on Tanglewood and Orga Camp begins. Again, Rieger provides a narrative of this long battle. The pieces of the altar are recovered over the next few days and the altar was eventually was purified and rebuilt. 207-215th day of 535 YA: The Feast of Tsrrin is held in and around the fair town of Puddleby. Fun was had by everyone as costumes and candy are distributed freely. Reiger discusses this wonderful festival. 536 YA: Frequent Orga attacks on Puddleby left the east gate wall partially demolished. The catapult was stolen and the operator Katpus was kidnapped or run off. Also throughout the year, these events occured: Zonk and his Arachnoid minions have attacked the town and the island's eastern region. Zonk's castle reportedly materialized in the midst of few of these attacks. Darshak warships were spotted and engaged several times off the west coast of Puddleby Island and Darshak attacks occured along the western beaches. The T'rools attacked south Puddleby. During this battle, it was uncovered that the T'rools were digging a tunnel from their mines to Puddleby. Doesn't seem the smartest thing to do, but T'rools aren't noted for their intelligence. Undine attacks inspired by Lilit occured in the East Fields in and about the Undine Cavern. Large changes are sensed by all. An island named Peaceton is openly discussed. Bran and Xantcha had a vision about this island. 537 YA: The Orga attacks on Puddleby diminished and the east gate wall was repaired althought the catapult tower was still demolished. Small rocks were shot at explorers entering the small tunnel on the west side Dark Cave under East Field, leading to the suspicion that the catapult is located in that area (called Alchemist's Folly or Lilit's Retreat). Also throughout the year, these events occured: Winter-Fall, 537 YA: The T'rools attacked south Puddleby in greater numbers, leading to speculation that the T'rool tunneling project, still undiscovered, is advancing. During these battles, new T'rools ('Kins) were spotted including the Hob'Kins, Ko'Kins, and Vol'Kins. The T'rools claimed Qual the Wizard was helping them take over the island. Fall, 537 YA: A Sylvan Outpost is being built near the Mirror in South Forest . This Outpost is charged with keeping a lookout for suspicious T'rool activities. Fall, 537 YA: The Darshak attacks continued in western Puddleby. Recently several valuable tomes were stolen from a Thoom named Libros who was helping Lirric build an extension to the Library of Higher Learning. Fall, 537 YA: A new species of creatures was discovered on Dal'Noth Island. These appear to be related to the carnivorous fungi family. They are called (in order of strength) Mildews, Neodews, Wildews, Hardews, and Pallidews. This bodes poorly for the visitor to Dal'Noth, since the Dal'Noth, Vel'Noth, Zol'Noth and the Sar'Noths were difficult to handle by themselves. 538 YA: The catapult tower was repaired but the catapult was never retrieved. Alchemist's Folly (connected to Dark Cave in Undine Cavern) is fully explored. A maze is found to the west of the large cavern which opens at specific times. At this moment it is believed the opening is timed around midnight. Also throughout the year, these events occured: Winter-Fall, 538YA: The T'rools and 'Kins again attacked South Forest in great numbers. The T'rool mines, east and west, were discovered to be far more developed than previously thought. These areas were thoroughly explored and safe areas (Pathfinder entrances) were found in both. No evidence of the tunnel to Puddleby was found. The T'rools often are accompanied by the strange fungi that are associated with Qual the Wizard. The South Forest Hospital (formerly called the Sylvan Outpost) is nearing completion. This hospital is charged with helping during T'rool attacks and other South Forest battles. Spring-Summer, 538YA: New (and the first) landings on the island just west of Puddleby Island were discovered. This island, tentatively refered to as Fire Island then later named Devil's Island, has a variety of environments. It also hides a volcanic crater which no one has managed to leave alive. Summer-Fall, 538YA: Dal'noth Isle can be approached from several different beaches now. Qual the Wizard is making life miserable for those adventurers that visit Dal'noth. Those that get caught in his clutches have a Neodew inserted into their throat. These victims show some symptoms of coughing and blood in their saliva, but overall they appear to be healthy. The feeling persists though that these unfortunates are controlled somehow by Qual. The castle north of Dal'town has been discovered to be inhabited! Another wizard named Votenkath was encountered living with some other castle occupants. Although the interior of the castle remains closed, exiles made contact with Votenkath and discussed an alliance against Qual. Late Fall, 538YA: There are some indications that an Orga Village exists. At this time it is not certain whether the village is connected to the Orga Camp complex or Snagglewood. Deep in the Orga Camp a "power" room was discovered last year. However, it is nearly impossible to make it back there to see if it has any connection to the Orga Village. 539 YA: The fourth Orga Camp sn'ell was entered and fully explored including a small area called the Power Room. One mystic was able to obtain a strange stone that reportedly had teleportation abilities. The Orga Camp complex has a variety of mystic and pathfinder-related entrances now. The opening mechanism of the mystic "gates" are not fully understood. The area beyond Wisher's Gate (in the Bones sn'ell of Snagglewood), now called the Orga Outback, was entered with help of Full Pathfinders. Several sn'ells were reported to lay beyond the gate including the fabled Orga Village, but the first sn'ell was so difficult to take that few exiles were able to explore further. There were three new fighter trainers purported to be in the Orga Outback area. The Marsh Hermit ranted about two higher Pathfinder trainers, Gaeyl and Trillbane. Exiles were able to determine that these trainers lived "beyond the passes". Exploration for these trainers was discussed at the very end of the year. Also throughout the year, these events occured: Winter-Fall, 539YA: The T'rools and 'Kins kept attacking South Forest and town areas. Qual incited a large invasion of Puddleby in the Fall, with the area around town falling for a short period of time. However, the exiles rallied and pushed the invaders back. The South Forest Hospital (formerly called the Sylvan Outpost) is almost complete. One building has been built and another is reaching completion. Winter-Fall, 539YA: Devil's Island has been almost completely explored and mapped by several exiles. A new cave that leads into an area that some exiles call the "Volcanic Crater" was found in one of the northern sn'ells. It takes a fully trained Hermit Pathfinder to enter the cave. This area is being actively explored. The small race called the Voolcons have been contacted but no one understands their language. These people are virtually harmless and should not be attacked. Winter-Fall, 539YA: Dal'noth Isle is still the choice of the most experienced exiles. Although no really new developments have oncurred with Votenkath, there seems to be some work done on the castle. Magic barriers appear to be placed in several of the castle rooms. The Dal'noth Underground has apparently changed and new areas in the depths of the caverns were discovered. To my knowledge, these new areas have not been mapped. Fall, 539YA: A new wizard is on the scene, his name is Tenebrion. For some reason, a mirror or magical "boat" portal keeps appearing which allows exiles to enter his castle grounds called Tenebrion's Keep. A group of exiles have contacted and negotiated a treaty with Tenebrion. He apparently has wares to sell like armor and weapons. However, he has a strange fascination for the healer's Purgatory Pendant and its related trainer, Virgil. We don't know what Tenebrion is up to, but the feeling is that he is not to be fully trusted. 540 YA: The area of Snagglewood called the Orga Outback was fully explored leading to the discovery of Dred Passage. By the end of the year, only one group of exiles had made it past this sn'ell into the North East Foothills. The Orga Village was accessed with regularity throughout the year. The three new fighter trainers were located in a cavern called the Trainer's Grotto which was just past the entry sn'ell of the Orga Outback called Hatred Hollow. The area beyond Wisher's Gate (in the Bones sn'ell of Snagglewood) was entered with help of Full Pathfinders. Several sn'ells were reported to lay beyond the gate including the fabled Orga Village, but the first sn'ell was so difficult to take that few exiles were able to explore further. No more information of the two higher Pathfinder trainers, Gaeyl and Trillbane, was discovered to my knowledge. The current understanding is that one of these trainers may be located in the North East Foothills. The furthest reaches of Orga Camp were accessed a few more times throughout the year. However, the battle led by the Orga Magician became so vicious that further assaults became less frequent. I understand only a few Mystics now hold the Teleportation Stone. The veil over Tenebrion's Island was lifted early in the year and the isle was quickly explored. Tenebrion's Demesne where the Keep lay was explored. Parties of exiles made assaults on the Tower inside the Keep and found it contained six floors. Tenebrion tends to reside on the top floor and he does not encourage visitors. Crystal shards are being discovered around the Keep. Some mystics have been able to piece some of the shards together and are puzzling over their use. However, the crystal or the shards tend to disappear in a puff of dust the following day making research tough. Also throughout the year, these events occured: Winter-Fall, 540YA: It seemed like fewer invasions threatened Puddleby throughout the year. However, Tenebrion's guards (Tenebrion claims they acted without his authority) and the Darshak showed up in Western Puddleby only to be driven back to the sea by the exiles.. Winter-Fall, 539YA: New (or previously explored areas that for some reason changed) on Devil's Island and the Dal'Noth Underground were reported. Nothing notable about these changes came to my (Tonoto) attention. I hope to research this further. 541 YA: Tunnels were opened under Puddleby. Although rumored to be around for more than a decade, the area was finally made ready for exploration by a team of dedicated dwarves. Unfortunately these tunnels have been infested with Undine and other creatures. Other areas of Tenebrion's Keep have been explored. Crystal shards (four) were found in the Poppy Field, the castle (the Commander of the Guards held a piece), the Tower (one of the Undine held a piece), and downstairs in the western reaches of the castle a small room held the final piece. The shards were pieced together and the assembled crystal showed the way to the Ethereal Plane. The Ethereal Plane proved to be incredibly difficult to access because of the large number of Undine including a creature called the Astral Drake. This area is currently still being explored. Also throughout the year, these events occured: Winter, 541YA: Several more assaults were made on Dred Passage. At this time very few exiles have made it to the North East Foothills. |
